In cooperation with the Euro- Arab Mashreq Gas Market, the Syrian Ministry of Oil and Mineral Wealth and EU delegation to Syria today held (09⁄12⁄2009 in the Euro-Arab Mashreq Gas Cooperation Center EAMGCC) in Damascus the final workshop of the first phase of the Arab Oriental European Gas Cooperation Project, after 4 years of activity.
High level representatives from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria met together with the EU representatives to review the achievements of the Euro-Arab Mashreq Gas Market phase 1 project. They agreed the outline of phase 2 of the project likely to start mid 2010.
The Minister of Oil and Mineral Wealth, Mr. Sufian Allaw, underlined the importance of the project in outlining the main issues to be tackled, in order to introduce future improvement into our gas and energy markets.
The final workshop was attended by representatives from Iraq and Turkey as a observers. The phase 2 will welcome Iraq as a full Partner Country.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday said it was necessary for the EU member countries to outline the nature of the role they want to play in the Middle East and hold dialogue in this framework with the countries of the region and the influential powers in the world.
The European Union and the International Organization for migration (IOM) officially inaugurated today (on 07⁄01⁄2010 in Aleppo City, north of Syria ) the Aleppo Shelter for female victims of trafficking.
The training course, organized by the Syrian Ministries of Health and Education in cooperation with the European Union, focused today (13⁄12⁄2009) on enhancing the capabilities of psycho-analysts.
The Syrian authorities and the delegation of the European Union have visited the east-centre of Syria, especially Deir el-Zor et Palmyre in order to distribute forty thousand food packs to the population that has been victim of the latest drought.

The workshop held by the Scientific Agricultural Researche's general Commission, focused today (15⁄10⁄2009) on integrating the social Gendre in the comprehensive administration of Meditteranean water resources.
The project comes within the framework of the international program for scientific researches cooperation in the European Commission, with the participation of 14 Meditteranean countries.
In the framework of the Quality Programme Annual Plan, and on the occasion of the World Standards Day on 14-10-2009, the Quality Programme (EU Funded program) in Syria, under the patronage of the Industry Ministry and in co-operation with the Syrian General Commission for Standards & Specifications,organised a seminar at the Dedeman Hotel- Damascus.
Under the auspices of the Syrian Ministry of Education, and in cooperation with the delegation of the European Commission to Syria, a celebration was held on october, 10th, on the occasion of organizing "The Gender Drawing Competition", at Maktab Anbar ( Anbar Office ) in the old city of Damascus.
