Euromed-news broadcasters working together to change the attitude of their audiences and to enhance North-South dialogue and cooperation
Changing the attitude toward Europe is one of the most important goals for the broadcasters partners of the Euromed-news project. The six TV are working to change as far as possible their spectators’ vision of the existing relations between their countries and the European Union.
So far, the Euromed-news exchanged items have highlighted many issues and projects achieved in different countries in partnership with the European Union. EPTV, SNRT, LJB, JTV, Télé Liban and ORTAS have covered some activities promoted by the European institutions in their countries such as European press briefings and inaugurations of the projects. They will carefully follow the development of the European Neighbourhood policy covering the presentation of the European commission on this issue. The broadcasters are selecting all Arab-European relevant event in order to make their viewers more concerned about the Euro-med news project.
Changing the attitudes of the broadcasters’ audiences is one of the main objective of the reportages, and Euromed journalists use all the possible way to achieve this goal.
The projects financed by the European Union in the Region are one of the main topic covered by the broadcasters within the project and partners are trying to highlight the updates of each project by making specialized reports on them with respect to their editorial line and to the goals set by the Euro-med news project. On the basis of previous agreements, those participants who have committed themselves with the coverage of the Palestinian events in the Palestinian territories have already started to work on it.
Beside all this, the project in itself it’s also important because it will bring teams of the 6 broadcasters to cooperate tightly in a Region where the dialogue is not easy at all. And, more than that, it will also allow them to establish a permanent platform of dialogue with the partners of the Northern side of Mediterranean, like France Télévisions, COPEAM and EBU-Eurovision.
