The transversal “Gender Equality” strategy applied in the framework of Euromed-News, involves all the aspects of the initiative, with regard to the composition of operational and coordination teams as well as to the topics dealt with in the TV productions.
The objective of this strategy is to encourage, through the media involved, a reflection about the evolution of the role of women in the South-Mediterranean societies and to promote an image going beyond any clichés and stereotypes.
The TV partners produce news and magazines covering all the different aspects of this matter. EPTV, in cooperation with JRTV and SNRT, began the production of a documentary devoted to the Mediterranean woman’s emancipation through her economic development.
A self-assessment instrument of the audiovisual productions, the « Screening Gender » toolkit, was conceived by EBU for European users, and is currently being adapted, in Arabic, for the media of the Southern side.
