Egypt experiences the highest rate of hepatitis C in the world , some 8,9 % of the Egyptian people that is to say 7,5 million of the population are virus carriers .
This disease prevails much more in the rural areas, mainly in the Nile Delta.
To help Egypt to face this deadly virus , the European Union has financed a major project having as an objective the support of scientific research with a view to fight this deadly disease .
